About Us

DeJong Farms is a 4th generation farm located in the heart of the Willamette Valley in Sheridan Oregon. The farm boasts of 1200 + acres of lush green rolling hills of tall fescue in the Spring and golden hills of wheat in the Fall to make a perfect home for some of the best Andalusian, Lusitano and Friesian horses. The farm primarily grows crops for seed, such as several varieties of tall fescue, wheat, clover, rye grass, sugar beets, radish, and other abundant crops.

Kelly DeJong, the daughter of Keith and Ramona DeJong, is not only an upcoming 5th generation farmer, but is also an accomplished horsewoman. She has won many prestigious awards including being selected "Youth of the Year" by the Andalusian Alliance of Professional Horsemen. She has won several National Championships in English and Western riding and much more at a very young age...

Her primary focus is classical dressage although she is also experienced in driving, western riding, and other disciplines. She has developed a successful breeding program, with an emphasis on not only the best bloodlines available, correct phenotype and movement, but also temperament and trainability as to produce horses that excel in dressage to team penning, and everything else in between. She believes that our horses should be experienced in many disciplines to make a well rounded equestrian partner.

She is actively training with some of the best trainers and clinicians available in the pure ageless art of classical dressage. Charles deKunffy, world renown author and judge, has become a roll model and mentor for Kelly, as she seeks his valuable advice, observes and follows his principles of correct riding and training in frequent lessons and clinics.

She has ridden with Dr. Tina Steward, Regina Agren, Karl Mikolka and other masters of our time. We believe in tempering the generous attitude of the Iberian horse and sculpt it slowly and methodically and being careful to never ask more than he can give.
